Job Description
LocumJobs Near Me is looking for a Nurse Practitioner to provide extra capacity for a primary care service in Whitley Bay.
You will manage minor illness and urgent appointments with clear escalation routes.
Up to 3 days a week with flexible session times.
Role Snapshot
• NP role supporting same-day access and routine follow-ups.
Key Responsibilities
• See and treat patients presenting with minor illness and uncomplicated acute problems.
• Undertake clinical assessments, diagnose and implement management plans within competence.
• Provide advice, self-care guidance and safety-netting, including follow-up where needed.
• Request and interpret investigations, acting on results appropriately.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and complete onward referrals when indicated.
• Work with GPs and nursing colleagues to support smooth patient flow.
Working Pattern
• Temporary cover with the potential for ongoing sessions.
• Up to 3 days per week, flexibility on days and session length.
• Mainly face-to-face clinics with some telephone work depending on demand.
• Start dates available quickly once compliance is complete.
Requirements
• NMC registration with recent Nurse Practitioner experience in UK primary care.
• Comfortable with autonomous minor illness management and recognising red flags.
• Prescribing qualification preferred, or willingness to work under agreed frameworks.
• Experience using GP clinical systems and strong documentation standards.
• Current mandatory training and evidence of immunisations as required.
